As one of the fastest growing cities in Canada, Mississauga is a fantastic place to consider owning a home. One of the largest cities in Canada and on the Great Lakes, it lays claim to a wide variety of assets and characteristics that make it an appealing choice for those looking for a place to raise their families as well as those looking for a vibrant, active urban environment. From its vast waterfront to its historical attractions and thriving urban life, the city has much to offer to people with a wide variety of interests and tastes.

Economically, the city boasts an impressive number of corporations, creating a strong and varied job market with both corporate and industrial opportunities. Indeed, Mississauga hosts over 60 Fortune 500 companies and over 50,000 registered business in a multitude of industries, including banking, finance, airlines, information technology, and manufacturing. It is also home to one of the three campuses for the University of Toronto, with over 10,000 students attending every year. And if that’s not enough, its public transit system allows its workers to commute in a time-efficient manner that avoids traffic congestion in a budget-conscious manner.

While Mississauga’s economy makes it an attractive place to buy a home, it has much more to offer. Ethnically and linguistically diverse, the city is committed to nurturing and sustaining its populace’s strong cultural heritage. In addition to public festivals and projects, Mississauga is dedicated to supporting its community with regular contributions to its fine arts. It has a large selection of museums & theaters, and historical attractions. It is also home to several ice hockey teams, including the Mississauga St. Michaels Majors of the OHL (Ontario Hockey League). It hosts many youth sports leagues, such as football, hockey, roller hockey, and rugby. Additionally, Mississauga offers a wide variety of fishing prospects both river and lake-side, boasting many different types of fish including salmon, steelhead trout, bass, carp, and pike as well as many boating opportunities.

Though cultural preservation and enrichment are important to Mississauga, giving back to its community is equally important to the city. It supports its community with nearly a dozen community and fitness centers, and lots of family-oriented sports and leisure activities. Mississauga is also green; it houses hundreds of parks – in both residential and industrial areas! – and nearly two dozen major trails with lots of natural scenery, and is committed to being bicycle-friendly. But most importantly to those considering making Mississauga their home, it’s a safe city. It has one of the lowest crime rates in Canada and has been recognized as the safest city to live in and visit for several years in a row!

Education is also an important factor consider, both for those who have children and those who plan on expanding their families in the future. Mississauga has a large youth population with over 140,000 students and is home to over 150 schools, both public and private. It has the largest public school system in Canada (outside of Toronto), served by the Peel District School Board, and one of the fastest growing ones, too. Mississauga strives to help its students meet their potential, and boasts a number of additional programs to help students succeed, including French-immersion schools, business programs, and arts programs.

In short, Mississauga is a great place for your next home. With its strong economy, dedication to culture and multiple historical landmarks as well as its well-developed educational system paired with its wide variety of recreational opportunities and stunning natural landscapes, Mississauga has a lot to offer!
